Comfortable and clean room that served its purpose. Very conveniently located across from the train station, in a square next to several cafe's/restaurants. Was nice not to have to lug my stuff to the center of town, about a 15-20 minute walk away. Liked the free wireless access in the room. Room also had a phone. I had a "double room for a single person," which was 2 twin beds with a private bathroom for 80 euros, which seemed pricey, but was among the cheaper, convenient options I found in Leuven.
Decor was sparse, so I would not expect a "charming" hotel or any atmosphere in the room. Note in the room said they are doing a staged renovation of the rooms, so perhaps it will be nicer soon. I was not informed by the receptionist that there was breakfast. Seems you could not adjust the temperature of the room, so I was a bit cold. Didn't try the shower, so can't comment on the other reviews.

Well, it was a very pleasant stay for about €65 a night. The whole staff was very very helpful and competent. The room was soundproof and new-fashioned with a great breakfast, just what we needed. No complains at all, the venue met requests...

The main room was nice, if basic; staff were helpful when I reported problems. The location was very convenient, close to the station and the bus station and only a short walk to the city centre.
There were no towels in my room, I had to go down and ask for them and it was some time before they appeared. The light in the corridor wasn't working, so I had to grope my way to find my room in the dark. There was a split in the bathroom floor, so it bounced while I was standing to clean my teeth. The reception seemed very short staffed, so every time I went down to ask a question I had to wait a long time, either because of a queue in front of me or because the only person there was on the phone. There was a lot of noise from the terrace below, there seemed to be parties in at least two cafes and the music was very loud until almost midnight, making it hard to sleep for business travellers.

After reading some negative reviews, we were apprehensive, but ended up being pleasantly surprised. Our room was clean and quite spacious for us and our children. Our beds were extremely comfortable - some of the best hotel beds we've slept on! And the location was superb. We would definitely stay at La Royale again.
The elevator had a funky smell, and the rooms had no extras like a hairdryer or even pen and paper. Breakfast was adequate.

The breakfast was very good and delicious as expected, with hard boiled eggs, bacon, and sausage. the location was convenient, with easy access to Martelarenplein.

The bed was comfortable enough. There was a tv with a few English speaking channels. The location was good because Leuven is a small town. Several restaurants right in the same square.
Reception was not friendly when I first arrived. The room was tiny, mind you I did have a single though. Just a plain room. Nothing special. No air conditioning either. I've stayed at hostels that were of the same quality.

The location, near to the station which was convenient for the purpose of our stay. The breakfast was okay
Yes, the staff was not helpful. They hardly spoke. The room had no airco and was pretty hot. The hotel is a little outdated (some areas are classicly nice though). The bar/restaurant personell was not providing service. Long wait times.
